Today Marks 50th March for Life
Friday marks the 50th Annual March for Life Washington, D.C.
For 49 years, Americans from across the country have traveled to the nation’s capital and called for the Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade Decision to be reversed
Now that Roe v. Wade has been relegated to the ash heap of history, it’s understandable to ask, “Why are we still marching?” The short answer: Babies’ lives are still being ended in the womb every day.
It’s impossible to express the joy at Roe V. Wade’s decision being overturned. The Catholic News Agency reported in October that already 10,000 lives have been saved because of the high court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. The lives saved are both something to celebrate and a reminder that the pro-life movement’s work is far from over.
Americans in every state across the country—and their elected leaders—now have the power to choose whether they will protect the most vulnerable through laws banning—or at least restricting—abortion. About a dozen states already have this power. made the choice Pro-life advocates will continue to fight for life from conception.
Pro-life advocates will not march to the Supreme Court, but instead they will march from National Mall to the U.S. Capitol Building to remind their elected officials that it is their responsibility to speak up for those without.
The 50th March for Human Life will be a celebration of Roe V. Wade’s end and a call to action as we begin a new era of fighting for human life in America. We pray that the March for Life will one day be overshadowed by the recognition that every human life is unique and worthy of protection.
This day has yet to come so we continue marching.
