Cotton criticized Biden’s handling of the war in Ukraine, arguing the president spent more than two years not providing the weapons the country needed to fight off Russia. Biden recently apologized to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for the delay in U.S. aid to Ukraine, blaming resistance from Republican lawmakers for uncertainty if this aid would be delivered; Cotton rebuked Biden’s blame, arguing the president only has himself to blame.
“But take a step back and look at the broader context,” Cotton said on Fox News Sunday. “Joe Biden is largely responsible for tempting Vladimir Putin to do what he’s always wanted to do, which is invade and annex Ukraine back to Russia. And if you notice, Vladimir Putin only tends to invade Ukraine when Democrats are president. He did under Barack Obama; he did it under Joe Biden. It did not happen under Donald Trump. For four years, we had peace and stability.”
Cotton also criticized Biden’s response to the war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas, arguing the president has appealed to Democratic supporters who support the terrorist group. He argued that had the United States backed Israel “to the hilt” since the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas last year, the war in Gaza would likely be over already.
Because of these wars, Cotton cited the need to have former President Donald Trump back in office if voters want “peace and stability” around the world. Cotton previously endorsed Trump ahead of the 2024 presidential election, in which Biden is seeking another term in office.

The Arkansas senator is one of several candidates rumored to be on Trump’s vice presidential list. When asked about this possibility, Cotton said he is confident the former president will choose his vice presidential candidate when he is ready, and that Trump will make “a good choice for the ticket and the party.”
A recent report stated that Trump had sent “vetting materials” to several vice presidential candidates, including Govs. Doug Burgum (R-ND), Kristi Noem (R-SD), Sens. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Tim Scott (R-SC), J.D. Vance (R-OH) Reps. Byron Donalds (R-FL), Elise Stefanik (R-NY), and former Trump administration official Ben Carson.
