Tom Homan blasts Jasmine Crockett for not knowing immigration law
In a recent exchange on Fox Business’s *Varney & Co.*, former ICE director Tom Homan criticized Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) for her misunderstanding of immigration law, specifically regarding the legality of entering the U.S. illegally. Crockett echoed a statement from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) claiming it is not a criminal offense to enter the country without authorization. Homan refuted this, citing Title VIII of the United States Code 1325, which designates illegal entry as a criminal violation. He expressed concern over lawmakers’ lack of understanding of the laws they enact, emphasizing the importance of enforcing immigration statutes. This debate comes amid heightened discussions on immigration policies, as thousands have encountered issues at the southwestern border recently.
Tom Homan blasts ‘pathetic’ Jasmine Crockett for not knowing immigration law
Border czar Tom Homan mocked Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) for her misinterpretation of immigration laws.
As Homan’s mass deportation plan is taking place across the country, Democratic lawmakers have been defending illegal immigrants. Crockett repeated a phrase from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on MSNBC News this week, saying, “It is not a criminal violation to enter the country illegally,” and Homan responded to her on Fox Business’s Varney & Co. on Monday.
“It’s a crime to enter the country illegally on Title VIII of the United States Code 1325. It’s really pathetic that any member of Congress don’t understand what the law says. They wrote the law. They enacted the law. It was signed by a president,” Homan said. “It is a criminal violation to enter the country illegally. If you’ve entered prior, it’s a felony. I’ve been saying this for I don’t know how long on your show, and I had to educate AOC years ago during a hearing that it’s a crime to enter illegally, and we will enforce those laws.”
Crockett graduated from the University of Houston Law Center. Before she ran for Congress, she started her own personal injury law firm.
VANCE TO VISIT US-MEXICO BORDER IN FIRST TRIP AS VICE PRESIDENT
As of February, there have been over 8,300 encounters with migrants at the southwestern border since the start of the year. This follows three years in which upward of 150,000 people attempted to cross.
According to Homan, the stark change happened during the first two days of the second Trump administration, when only 766 apprehensions were reported on the southwestern border. Previously, there were as many as 10,000 a day under the Biden administration.
