Biden’s top adviser leaving White House soon.
Louisa Terrell to Depart White House, Biden Confirms
Louisa Terrell, a longtime senior adviser to President Joe Biden, will be leaving the White House at the end of July, according to a statement released by Biden on Friday afternoon.
Terrell, who has been part of Biden’s inner circle alongside Steve Richetti and Anita Dunn, played a crucial role as a key negotiator for the White House over the past two-and-a-half years. Her departure marks the highest-profile exit from the administration since Julie Chavez Rodriguez joined the president’s reelection effort earlier this year.
Biden Acknowledges Terrell’s Contributions
In his statement, President Biden emphasized Terrell’s significant contributions to passing important legislation, such as the Inflation Reduction Act and his landmark spending packages. He also highlighted her instrumental role in avoiding a national default during this year’s debt ceiling negotiations with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and congressional Republicans.
“For years — as a Senator, as Vice President, as President, and every moment in between — I have relied on Louisa for her wise counsel and her skill. I have relied upon her to reflect my values. And I have relied upon her to deliver for the American people. Every step of the way, that’s exactly what she has done,” the president wrote.
Biden further praised Terrell’s steady hand and perseverance in helping to achieve key priorities. He specifically mentioned her work in securing the confirmation of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court, as well as appointing a historic number of diverse judges and officials across the government.
Highlighting Terrell’s leadership qualities, Biden expressed his gratitude for her mentorship and acknowledged the pride she takes in managing and leading her team.
A Close Figure in the Biden Circle
Louisa Terrell, who, like the president, hails from Delaware, has been a close figure in the Biden circle for decades. She was schoolmates with the president’s late son, Beau Biden, and first worked for him when he served on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden extended their deepest gratitude to Terrell for her years of service to the American people, as well as to her family for their support.
As Louisa Terrell prepares to depart the White House, her impact and contributions will be remembered as an integral part of the Biden administration’s achievements.
