In a recent report by Los Angeles Times pop music critic Mikael Wood, it was revealed that Anthony’s song had reached the top of the iTunes chart and Spotify’s U.S. Top 50.
According to the trade journal Hits, Anthony is estimated to be making $40,000 a day from the sales and streams of his music.
Last week, “Rich Men North of Richmond” was streamed over 17.4 million times, as reported by Hits.
On the iTunes Charts, Anthony currently holds four of the top 10 spots, with “Rich Men North of Richmond” at No. 1 and “Ain’t Gotta a Dollar” at No. 2.
His latest release, “I Want to Go Home,” premiered on YouTube and has already garnered over 1.3 million views. It currently sits at No. 9 on the iTunes Charts.
A Rising Star with a Humble Lifestyle
Despite his incredible success, Anthony leads a modest life on his farm in central Virginia. He resides in a 27-foot camper with a tarp covering a hole in the roof, as reported by the U.K. Daily Mail. Prior to his music career, Anthony worked at a paper mill in neighboring North Carolina.
In a recent Facebook post, the 31-year-old artist expressed his disinterest in the extravagant trappings of the music industry. He turned down an $8 million deal, stating, “I don’t want 6 tour buses, 15 tractor trailers, and a jet. I don’t want to play stadium shows, I don’t want to be in the spotlight.”
Anthony explained that he wrote his music as a way to cope with mental health and depression. His songs resonate with millions because they are sung by someone who truly feels the words in the moment. No editing, no agents, just raw emotion.
