Tennessee GOP Leaders Get Suspicious Packages, Blamed on Radical Trans Activism
An FBI Investigation is Underway After Suspicious Packages Delivered to Tennessee Lawmakers
Several “suspicious” packages were recently delivered to Tennessee lawmakers in Nashville, sparking an ongoing FBI investigation. The Cordell Hull State Office Building, where the packages were dropped off, has been temporarily shut down as authorities work to determine the nature of the packages.
Concerns Prompt Lockdown and Hazmat Response
House Speaker Cameron Sexton confirmed that the offices at the capitol have been placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure. Hazmat teams are currently on the scene, assessing the situation. Sexton stated, “The sixth floor has been placed on lockdown out of an abundance of caution, and hazmat teams are on scene assessing the situation.”
A source familiar with the investigation revealed that the threatening letters received by Kansas Republican lawmakers closely resembled the ones sent to Tennessee lawmakers. Both sets of letters were signed by “your secret despiser” and listed the return address of a transgender activist who passed away several years ago.

House Republicans issued a statement, confirming that the letters contained explicit threats targeting Republicans and were sent by a liberal activist. They assured that all employees and members in the building are safe, but the sixth floor of the Cordell Hull Building remains on lockdown while Homeland Security and first responders investigate.

Similar Incidents Reported in Kansas
Just days ago, Republican legislators and officials in Kansas also reported receiving “cryptic” letters containing white powder. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) is working alongside the FBI to investigate the roughly 100 letters that have been sent. So far, it appears that the letters have exclusively targeted Republicans.
Republican State Rep. Tory Marie Blew, who received one of the letters, expressed her concern in a Facebook post, stating, “This is not okay. I don’t know all the details, but as of now, only Republican legislators have received this package.”
The number of reported letters has steadily increased, with approximately 100 letters reported as of Monday. The substances tested so far have been determined to be neither explosive nor a biohazard.
State Rep. Stephen Owens, a Republican, believes that these incidents may be a response to the legislature overriding several vetoes this year, including one that prohibits transgender-identifying athletes from competing on sports teams that do not align with their biological sex. While Republicans control both the House and the Senate in Kansas, Democrat Laura Kelly has been serving as governor since 2019.
