British Olympians have spoken out against a proposal that could force them to compete with transgender women.

Beth Dobbin, Emily Diamond, and Ellie Baker claimed that the plan does not favor female athletes because of their biological advantages.

“Women deserve to compete exclusively against competitors who don’t have any of the advantages that the female category exists to exclude,” Dobbin tweets “Testosterone is what creates these advantages and lowering it doesn’t level the playing field.”

Baker agreed with these sentiments.

“I love track & field,” She wrote. “I train hard every day to reach my goals in this sport, but if this is going to be allowed, this will take away biological women’s livelihoods.”

Team Great Britain’s runners are just the latest female athletes to speak out against the injustice. They join British shot putter Amelia Strickland, who has led the charge against biological men competing in women’s sports.

“The effects of the hormones and hormone replacements are not going to take away that male puberty advantage,” Strickler BBC Radio 5 Live. “It would leave us women at a serious disadvantage.”

Strickler said that participation by transgender females in female competitions was encouraged. “happening at the grassroots level.” She is concerned about the ripple effect on elite athletics. “sooner than we think.”

World Athletics will increase restrictions on transgender women but not ban them.

World Athletics, the international governing body in track and field, has submitted a proposal to allow transgender athletes into elite female track and fields events. It would be fine if they had low testosterone levels.

At the moment, competitors must maintain a blood level of testosterone below 5 nanomoles/liter during at least 12 consecutive months. The new plan requires athletes to measure 2.5 nanomoles/liter. This time limit has been extended to two years.

This proposal is in sharp contrast to previous statements made by Lord Sebastian Coe, President of World Athletics.

Coe stated that in March 2022 “gender cannot trump biology” And that “fairness is non-negotiable.”

Coe was expected follow the example of Fina, an international swimming federation. Fina banned trans women from participating in the female category last year.

This was the decision An expert report concluded that trans women are more likely to be born after going through male puberty. “relative performance advantage over biological females,” Even after treatment for testosterone reduction

“Testosterone suppression does not work,” former Team GB marathoner Mara Yamauchi said. “Either Coe has changed his mind, or he cannot stand up to others in World Athletics who are pushing this.”

The rule change will be voted on by the council in March.

Before the vote, the proposal will go through a consultation process.

“It is just something that me, my peers and my colleagues — we all work hard day in, day out — we don’t want to see this happen,” Strickler said.

Strickler stated that the sport’s biological women are also included. “screwed” It doesn’t matter if anyone speaks up. She could even be driven to retirement by the rules.

Baker said that the sport’s future could also depend on Baker.

“We may as well give up now,” Baker stated. “I’m not anti trans. It’s just a matter of what’s fair and what isn’t.”
