Trans Activist, Convicted Triple Murderer, Raises Concerns as Inmate in Women’s Prison: Report
A Former Trans Activist Turned Convicted Murderer Terrorizes Inmates at California’s Largest Women’s Prison
A shocking report from the Washington Free Beacon reveals that Dana Rivers, a former trans activist who was convicted of murdering a lesbian couple and their son, is currently causing havoc at the Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla. Fellow inmates claim that Rivers ogles them, speaks demeaningly to them, and even demands that they push him around in his wheelchair.
“Rivers has been a problem since he rolled in the door,” one message reviewed by the outlet stated. “He is trying to control the women saying he gets to bypass everything—special treatment.”
In a phone interview, another inmate named Tomiekia Johnson shared her disturbing encounter with Rivers. She said, ”She felt him looking at her, she said, ‘I felt someone watching me, and there he was, staring at my butt.'” Johnson, who had previously lost her prison job after complaining about being housed with biological men, expressed her frustration and betrayal by the prison for allowing Rivers to be housed with her.
The organization Women II Women, which monitors the rise of transgender inmates at female prisons, provided the Free Beacon with additional complaints from women about Rivers’ conduct. The founder of the organization, Amie Ichikawa, who was formerly incarcerated at the same facility, expressed her concern about the lack of rehabilitation and recovery for women when they are housed with individuals who have caused them trauma in the past.
Rivers, previously known as David Warfield, gained notoriety as a transgender activist in 1999 when he was dismissed from his high school teaching position for openly discussing his intentions to undergo a sex change with students. After taking legal action against the school and receiving a settlement, Rivers used the funds to finance his sex-change operation.
Tragically, after his operation, Rivers became involved in a brutal crime. He murdered fellow biker Charlotte Reed, her lesbian partner, and their 19-year-old son. The New York Post reported that Rivers shot and stabbed the victims multiple times, leaving a scene of unimaginable violence.
Judge Scott Patton, who sentenced Rivers, described the killings as the “most depraved crime I ever handled.” He emphasized that Rivers deserved to spend the rest of his life in prison.
Despite the shocking brutality of the crimes, Rivers has been transferred to a women’s prison, causing outrage and concern. The U.K.’s Daily Mail reported on the controversy, highlighting the fact that California is one of several states that allow the incarceration of biological men in female prisons. This has resulted in the transfer of 52 male inmates to women’s prisons in California alone.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) has refrained from commenting on the allegations, citing privacy laws. However, they have stated their commitment to providing a safe and rehabilitative environment for all incarcerated individuals, including transgender, non-binary, and intersex individuals.
The shocking situation involving Dana Rivers has sparked widespread attention and raised important questions about the safety and well-being of inmates in women’s prisons.
