Transgender golfer Hailey Davidson triumphs in women’s tournament, boosting LPGA Tour prospects

Transgender golfer Hailey Davison has emerged victorious in the women’s tournament, significantly boosting her chances of qualifying for the LPGA tour.
On Wednesday, Davison secured victory in the tour’s Women’s Classic in the NXXT Women’s Pro Tour, held in Florida.
Reportedly, the golfer was trailing by three strokes with four holes remaining, but she staged a remarkable comeback, eventually winning after two playoff holes against Lauren Miller.
Miller finished the final round with a score of 76, while Davidson shot a one-over 73. Over the course of the three-round tournament, both players finished with a score of four over par.
In addition, Davidson has achieved second place twice and secured a spot in the top 10 in all five events she has participated in since November.
In 2010, the LPGA Tour eliminated its requirement for players to be assigned female at birth.
According to a Golfweek article from May 2021, Davidson underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2021 after undergoing hormone therapy treatments starting in 2015.
The article states that Davidson’s last participation in a male competition was at the Admiral’s Cove local qualifying for the U.S. Open in Jupiter, Florida, in 2015.
As stated on their website, the NXXT will grant ten exemptions to the LPGA’s developmental tour, the Epson Tour, to the top five scorers of the season.
With 1,320 points, Davidson currently leads the NXXT.
