Transgender Male Arrested for Planning School Shooting in Colorado, Had Anti-Trump Manifesto
A 19-year-old trans-identified male who goes by the name Lilly (born William Whitworth) was arrested and charged with attempted murder after police in Colorado Springs discovered his plan to carry out a shooting in the area. The suspect was found to have made threats against schools in the Colorado Springs Academy District 20.
Whitworth, a former student of the district, faces two counts of a criminal attempt to commit murder in the first degree, criminal mischief, menacing, and interference with staff, faculty, or students of educational institutions.
According to an affidavit, Whitworth had attended Timberview Middle School and had planned on targeting the school, though he had no specific reason for doing so. The investigation began when authorities responded to a disturbance call and found that someone inside the residence had been punching holes in walls and ripping doors off their hinges. Whitworth was intoxicated at the time and made suicidal statements.
During the investigation, authorities discovered a manifesto in which Whitworth had listed individuals to target for shooting, including churches, and had been planning the attack for a month. The manifesto additionally contained a list of firearms and instructions on how to create improvised explosive devices. It also contained a note stating that President Donald Trump is a “con-man.”
This incident follows after the case of Audrey Hale, a trans-identified female who had shot and killed six people in Nashville’s Covenant School.
