Trump ally threatens Letitia James with prison if she pursues legal action during second term
Mike Davis, an ally of President-elect Donald Trump, warned New York Attorney General Letitia James to not pursue any legal action against Trump during his second term, threatening to send her to prison if she does so.
“I dare you to try to continue your lawfare against President Trump in his second term,” Davis said during an appearance on The Benny Show podcast. “Listen here, sweetheart, we’re not messing around this time and we will put your fat a** in prison for conspiracy against rights. I promise you that.”
Davis is the founder of the Article III Project, a group which pushes for the nominations of conservative judges. His name has been floated around as being either Attorney General or White House counsel in Trump’s second term.
Davis’s remarks come after James’s remarks press conference addressing the election results. She said her office is “prepared to fight back once again” pointing to how in the she has used the rule of law to fight back.
“We did not expect this result, but we are prepared to respond to this result,” James said. “And my office has been preparing for several months because we’ve been here before. We faced this challenge before, and we used the rule of law to fight back. And we are prepared to fight back once again because, as the attorney general of this great state, it is my job to protect and defend the rights of New Yorkers and the rule of law. And I will not shrink from that responsibility.”
James and the Justice Department have been previously accused by Trump and his allies of creating a two-tiered justice system.
Earlier this year, James won a $454 million civil fraud judgement against Trump, accusing him of inflating his net worth by billions of dollars in an effort to get a better loan.
Trump is currently seeking an appeal in the case.
