Trump announces Venezuela will ‘supply’ illegal immigrants transit out of the US
President Donald Trump said that Venezuela will “supply” illegal immigrants’ transportation out of the United States, after previously saying they wouldn’t accept deported migrants.
The announcement comes after Richard Grenell, Trump’s presidential envoy for special missions, returned from a trip to Venezuela with six U.S. citizens who had been detained in the country after meeting with the country’s president.
“It is so good to have the Venezuela Hostages back home and, very important to note, that Venezuela has agreed to receive, back into their Country, all Venezuela illegal aliens who were encamped in the U.S., including gang members of Tren de Aragua,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Saturday.

“Venezuela has further agreed to supply the transportation back. We are in the process of removing record numbers of illegal aliens from all Countries, and all Countries have agreed to accept these illegal aliens back,” Trump added.
The new agreement will aid Trump in delivering on his campaign promise to deport millions of immigrants living in the U.S. without authorization and carry out the “largest deportation” in U.S. history.
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, who has long refused to allow deportation planes from the U.S., will now reverse his course and accept deportees.
More than 600,000 Venezuelans have migrated to the U.S. in recent years and many received special protected status allowing them to work temporarily. Earlier this week, the Trump administration additionally revoked a decision from President Joe Biden’s administration that extended this status, meaning thousands of Venezuelans could be eligible for deportation as soon as April.
In recent years, eight million Venezuelans have left the country due to economic turmoil and political repression.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Friday that one of Grenell’s objectives of the trip was to find somewhere for illegal immigrant gang members to be deported to.
“Number one, Rick Grenell has been instructed to identify a place and ensure that repatriation flights of Tren de Aragua members, of Venezuelan nationals who have broken our nation’s laws, will land in Venezuela,” Leavitt said at a White House press briefing. “Number two, Rick Grenell is in Venezuela to ensure that all U.S. detainees in Venezuela are returned home.”
The White House did not respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment about the logistics of Venezuela supplying the transportation.
