Former President Donald Trump didn’t hold back in his criticism of Jimmy Kimmel’s performance as an Oscar host. Kimmel, however, didn’t shy away from addressing Trump’s comments during the show.
On Sunday, the 45th president took to Truth Social to express his dissatisfaction with the show, describing it as “Disjointed, boring, and very unfair.”
Trump specifically criticized Kimmel’s opening monologue and posed a rhetorical question, asking if there has ever been a “worse host” at the Oscars.
“Has there ever been a worse host than Jimmy Kimmel at the Oscars?” Trump posted.
In addition, he sarcastically suggested that “Good Morning America” co-anchor George Stephanopoulos, or as Trump referred to him, ”George Slopanopoulos,” should have been the host instead of Kimmel.
Kimmel, known for his animosity toward Trump, playfully asked the audience to guess which former president authored the critical post and quipped, “Thank you, President Trump. Isn’t it past your jail time?”

How has the Oscars become a platform for political statements, and how has Trump reacted to this

This exchange between Trump and Kimmel is just the latest in a long line of clashes between the former president and the entertainment industry. Throughout his time in office and even before, Trump has been a controversial figure in Hollywood, with many celebrities openly criticizing his policies and behavior.
On the other hand, Trump has not been one to back down from such criticism. He has frequently taken to social media to voice his opinions and lash out at those who disagree with him. This has earned him both supporters and detractors, with some praising his candidness and others condemning his divisive rhetoric.
The Oscars, known for their glitz and glamour, have often been a platform for political statements and commentary. From Meryl Streep’s powerful speech against Trump in 2017 to Joaquin Phoenix’s impassioned plea for climate action in 2020, the awards show has become a venue for celebrities to express their views on a wide range of issues.
However, this year’s ceremony seems to have struck a nerve with Trump. His criticism of Kimmel’s hosting performance and the overall show suggests that he believes the Oscars have become biased against him and his supporters. Whether this perception is accurate or not, it highlights the deep divide that exists in the entertainment industry and the country as a whole.
While it is not surprising that Trump and Kimmel would clash given their history, it is unfortunate that such animosity persists. The entertainment industry, like any other, should be a space for diverse opinions and respectful dialogue. Instead, it has become a battleground for political ideologies, with celebrities using their platforms to attack and defend politicians.
Perhaps it is time for all parties involved to take a step back and reevaluate their approach. Can we not have a healthy debate without resorting to personal attacks? Can we not find common ground and work towards solutions instead of perpetuating division? These are questions that not only the entertainment industry but the entire country should contemplate.
Regardless of one’s political affiliation or views on Trump, it is essential to remember the importance of civility and respect in public discourse. We must strive to foster an environment where individuals can express their opinions without fear of retribution or hostility. Only then can we hope to bridge the gaps that divide us and move towards a more inclusive and understanding society.
As for Trump and Kimmel, it remains to be seen whether they will continue their war of words or find a way to reconcile their differences. One thing is for sure, though – their feud is unlikely to be the last clash between the entertainment industry and the world of politics.
