He stated, “We’re leading by a lot in Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin,” asserting that these typically competitive states are now within reach. Despite his optimistic proclamations, actual polling data suggests the race is much closer, with Trump trailing Harris by less than 1 percentage point in key states according to a RealClearPolitics poll. Moreover, data from a New York Times poll indicates that Harris is leading Trump nationally by 1 percentage point, revealing that Trump’s claims of a substantial lead are not reflected in the polling averages.

In the final 12 days before Election Day, former President Donald Trump bragged about his poll numbers while campaigning in Las Vegas, Nevada, a crucial battleground state.
“We’re leading by a lot in Nevada. We’re leading by a lot in Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, even states that are typically never in play,” Trump boasted to the crowd about his race against Vice President Kamala Harris. “Big states are all in play.”

Later on, he repeated that same boast, claiming: “We’re leading in Michigan by a lot. We’re leading in Wisconsin by a lot. We’re leading in Pennsylvania by a lot.”
“But I’m not supposed to say that,” Trump said, hinting about the tight race. “They’re afraid that if you hear that they’re not going to vote. I said, ‘Well, it’s a double-edged sword. You know, we’re leading by a lot.”
In actuality, Trump is narrowing Harris’s lead in the battleground states by less than 1 percentage point, 48.4% to 47.5%, according to a RealClearPolitics poll average. It also shows Trump is only beating Harris by more than 1 percentage point in Arizona, 49.2% to 47.7%, and Georgia, 49% to 46.8%.
Similarly, a New York Times national poll average shows Harris leading Trump by just 1 percentage point, 49% to 48%. The New York Times tracker shows the only states Trump is beating Harris by more than 1 percentage point is also Georgia and Arizona.
The Washington Post‘s polling average shows Harris leading in four out of the seven battleground states, Nevada, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. Trump leads in North Carolina, Georgia, and Arizona.
The election’s final sprint has seen both Trump and Harris criscross the nation stumping in all seven battleground states.
Earlier on Thursday, Trump campaigned in Tempe, Arizona where he slammed Harris over immigration and border security. Harris, meanwhile, held a campaign rally in Georgia with former President Barack Obama where they hammered Trump on a variety of issues while attempting to appeal to black voters.
