Trump calls into Vance town hall to make fun of Harris: ‘Don’t say it’

Former President Donald Trump called into a NewsNation town hall where his running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), was speaking and asked him a question: “How brilliant is Kamala?”

Vance chuckled and replied, “That’s a very tough one, sir. I’m supposed to say—” before Trump interjected, “Don’t say it. We don’t need anymore. … We’re doing just fine, and by the way, J.D. is doing a fantastic job.”

Trump asked Vance earlier in the town hall with Chris Cuomo, “How brilliant is Donald J. Trump?”

Vance replied, “First of all, sir, of course, you’re very brilliant” before talking about how the two agree the country should be led by smart leaders.

The former president expressed confidence in his campaign and the inevitable election results.

“We’re leading by a lot, as you know the early voting; people don’t want to talk about it — I shouldn’t be talking about it, but we’re leading by a landslide,” Trump said.

Meanwhile, among other topics, the media-friendly Vance discussed political polarization among the public.

“If you’re discarding a lifelong friendship because somebody is voting for the other team, then you’ve made a terrible, terrible mistake and you should do something different,” Vance said. “Whether you vote for Donald Trump, whether you vote for Kamala Harris, don’t cast aside family members and lifelong friendships. Politics is not worth it.”

Harris is leading Trump in RealClearPolitics’s national polling average 48.8% to 48.5%. Trump, however, leads in their polling average for the battleground states, 48.4% to 47.5%.

There are just 12 days until Election Day on Nov. 5 as millions of voters have already cast their ballots in mail-in or early voting.
