Trump’s team suggests Christie requires ‘professional assistance’ for doubting South Carolina crowd size.
Former President Donald Trump’s Campaign Responds to Chris Christie’s Doubts About Rally Attendance
The recent South Carolina rally held by former President Donald Trump reportedly drew a massive crowd of 50,000 people. However, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie expressed skepticism about this number, stating that “50,000 is absurd.” While he did not want to engage in an argument about it, Trump’s campaign had a strong response to Christie’s doubts.
“Chris Christie lives in a perpetual fantasy land where he thinks he can be president. Everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie wrapped in incoherent psychotic rage and he needs to get some professional help,”
– Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung
Confirmation from Local Authorities
Despite Christie’s doubts, both the Pickens County police chief and the county’s Republican chairman have confirmed the massive crowd at the rally. Pickens Police Chief Randall Beach stated that there were at least 50,000 people in attendance, and he wouldn’t be surprised if the number was closer to 60,000 or even 70,000. Pickens County Republican Party Chairman Bob Fetterly emphasized the stark difference in numbers, pointing out that Trump managed to pack 50,000 people into a town with a population of only 3,400.
Estimates and Challenging Conditions
Prior to the rally, estimates ranged from 10,000 to 30,000 attendees. However, when Trump took the stage, he boldly claimed that there were 75,000 people present. Despite the challenging conditions of high humidity and temperatures in the 90s, supporters of the former president showed unwavering dedication, with only about 50 individuals seeking shelter from the heat inside Pickens First Baptist Church.
Pickens Police Chief Beach described the resourcefulness of the crowd, stating that they utilized various locations such as cars, courthouse stairwells, and the police department to accommodate the overwhelming turnout.
