According to figures released by the Trump campaign on Friday, they have raised more than $4 million in 24 hours following the public revelation of Trump’s indictment.
The fundraising email was sent out by the campaign right after Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced the indictment. “Americans from across all 50 states” donated over $4 million in less than a day.
The Trump campaign also reported that more than 25% of the donations came from first-time donors, which they said solidified Trump’s lead in the Republican primary election. Additionally, around 16,000 people signed up as volunteers along with their donations.
Many prominent Republicans, including other presidential hopefuls, denounced the indictment as a politically motivated move and an abuse of the justice system.
Trump called the indictment a “political witch hunt” and maintained his innocence, denying the allegations and payments. He is now faced with up to 30 charges and potentially up to four years in prison.
