Trump campaign responds to Harris challenge over releasing medical history

Former President Donald Trump‘s campaign claimed Trump had already released medical updates from his personal physician in response to a challenge from Vice President Kamala Harris, who released her medical report on Saturday morning.

“President Trump has voluntarily released updates from his personal physician, as well as detailed reports from Dr. Ronny Jackson, who treated him after the first assassination attempt,” Trump campaign spokesman, Steven Cheung, said in a statement hours after Harris’s doctor released her report. “All have concluded he is in perfect and excellent health to be Commander in Chief.”

The campaign pointed to Jackson’s two medical reports on Trump in July following the failed assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, and another report from Bruce Aronwald as proof of the former president’s ability to serve another term.

The July 20 report from Jackson claimed Trump was “doing well” and recovering following the Butler incident. Roughly a week later, Jackson wrote in a second report pushing back against criticisms that Trump did not suffer from a gunshot wound.

“The would-be assassin fired multiple rounds from a relatively close distance using a high-powered rifle, with one bullet striking the former President, and now the Republican Nominee for President, in his right ear,” Jackson wrote. “There is absolutely no evidence that it was anything other than a bullet,” Jackson continued.

The campaign also pointed to a Trump Truth Social post in November 2023 where Aronwald claimed he had given Trump a comprehensive examination on Sept. 13 of that year. “I am pleased to report President Trump’s overall health is excellent,” wrote Aronwald, who is also a member of Trump’s Bedminster golf club.

Earlier on Saturday, Harris’s physician wrote that Harris was a “healthy 59-year-old female who had a medical history notable for seasonable allergies and urticaria.”

But the Trump campaign remains adamant that Trump is also healthy and can handle the activity associated with campaigning in the final stretch of the election.

“Her schedule is much lighter because, it is said, she does not have the stamina of President Trump,” Cheung said.
