Trump chooses Steven Cheung as communications director
President-elect Donald Trump tapped campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung as his incoming director of communication and Sergio Gor as director of the presidential personnel office.
“Steven Cheung and Sergio Gor have been trusted Advisors since my first Presidential Campaign in 2016, and have continued to champion America First principles throughout my First Term, all the way to our Historic Victory in 2024,” Trump said in a statement Friday. “I am thrilled to have them join my White House as we, Make America Great Again.”
KEY DATES FOR THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL TRANSITION
The combative Cheung previously worked in the first Trump administration as director of strategic response, while Gor ran the pro-Trump Super PAC, Right For America.
Their appointments this time around are another sign that Trump values loyalty in whom he selects to aid him in the White House.
Cheung, in particular, has taken to social media to blast Trump’s critics including former defeated rival Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), who challenged Trump for the presidential nomination. He also worked at the Ultimate Fighting Championship as a communications professional.
Cheung has been one of Trump’s most trusted allies working in tandem with co-campaign chairs Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita. (Wiles has previously been named chief of staff.)
Cheung would likely take his pugilistic approach when dealing with the press in the White House next year.
Gor, a former aide to Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), co-founded Winning Team Publishing with Donald Trump Jr. where they’ve published various Trump books.
Trump has not yet named his press secretary but Karoline Leavitt, his current campaign spokeswoman, is in contention for the role.
