Former President Donald Trump took his war of words against his election opponent, President Joe Biden, to a new level on Saturday, reportedly comparing his opponent’s administration to the “Gestapo.”
Trump made the comparison between the Biden administration and the secret police in Nazi Germany during a private donor event at Mar-a-Lago on Saturday, according to multiple reports citing audio from the event.
“These people are running a Gestapo administration,” Trump said, according to NBC News. “And it’s the only thing they have. And it’s the only way they’re going to win in their opinion.”
The former president has been fiery in his criticism of the Biden administration, as he faces four separate criminal cases — two of them in federal court. The White House has maintained that it was not involved in any of the indictments, despite Trump’s accusations.
“Once I got indicted, I said, well, now the gloves have to come off,” Trump said, per the outlet, also adding that Biden is “the worst president in the history of our country.”
“He’s grossly incompetent. He’s crooked as hell. He’s the Manchurian candidate, he accepts massive amounts of money from China, from Russia, from Ukraine and many other countries. He’s a crook,” Trump added.
Trump is scheduled to be back in court this week as his hush-money case enters its fourth week in Manhattan. The trial in the New York case has kept him in the courtroom for nearly every weekday — except Wednesdays — for the past three weeks, with the trial expected to continue for several more weeks.
Despite Trump’s limited time on the campaign trail, he made stops in Michigan and Wisconsin on Wednesday, and is currently leading Biden in most swing state polls.
