Trump Delivers Feisty Mar-A-Lago Speech After New York Arraignment
Just moments after pleading not guilty to criminal charges in New York, former President Donald Trump returned home to his Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago. Speaking before family and supporters, he attacked Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who he calls a “criminal” and accused him of having illegally leaked grand jury information before Trump’s arraignment. He also disparaged the judge in the case, Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan whom he called a “Trump-hating judge”, and raised concerns about his family’s political connections.
If convicted, reports suggest that Trump could face a sentence of over 100 years in prison. There is some concern over the strength of Bragg’s case, with Senator Mitt Romney of Utah suggesting that the prosecutor had “stretched to reach felony criminal charges in order to fit a political agenda”.
Trump is running for the White House again and is facing investigations from other parties including special counsel Jack Smith, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and the FBI.
