Trump ‘Feeling Very Sad for Our Country’ Amid Indictment: Spokesperson
Former President Donald Trump, who has been indicted by a grand jury in New York City, is reportedly feeling sad for the state of the country, according to his spokesperson Liz Harrington.
“Personally, he feels good and fine because he knows he’s done nothing wrong. But for the country, he’s not feeling good,” Harrington told NTD news.
The indictment marks the first criminal charge against a US president in the country’s history. “He’s feeling very sad for our country, because he knows how crucial this line they crossed is,” Harrington said. “This marks a turning point that we’ve never had as a constitutional republic. It turns us, in fact, into a banana republic…That’s a very dangerous place for not just our country and our citizens but the entire world.”
Details of Hearing Confirmed
Donald Trump’s first hearing regarding this case is scheduled to take place at New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan’s courtroom on April 4th at 2:15 p.m, according to a court spokesperson’s confirmation. The courthouse is located in lower Manhattan. The indictment against Trump, confirmed on March 30th, remains under seal.
The Manhattan District Attorney, Alvin Bragg, had been investigating a payment by Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen to adult performer Stormy Daniels. Daniels had alleged that Trump had an affair with her. Cohen confirmed that he spoke to the grand jury.
“This is a totally sham case that’s never been brought in the history of our country. And in fact, [Trump] never had an affair with this woman,” Harrington told NTD news.
Despite his indictment, legal experts have noted that Trump could still become president since the U.S. Constitution does not bar individuals with a criminal record from becoming president.
According to Harrington, Trump plans to continue fighting for the American people in his presidential campaign.
