Trump fires NSC staffers after Laura Loomer raises loyalty concerns – Washington Examiner

In a recent progress, President Donald Trump has dismissed several officials from the National Security Council (NSC) following a meeting with Laura Loomer, an outspoken conservative activist and self-described investigative journalist. The meeting raised concerns about loyalty among NSC staffers, which Loomer had previously vocalized, accusing some of disloyalty and highlighting issues with vetting processes. Reports indicate that the firings occurred shortly after Loomer discussed her allegations in front of Trump and national security adviser Mike Waltz.

This action also follows a leak from a communications group chat that may have heightened scrutiny on NSC officials. NSC spokesperson Brian Hughes stated that the council does not comment on personnel matters. Loomer confirmed her meeting with Trump, stressing the importance of rigorous vetting of White House staff to protect the administration’s confidentiality. Trump’s association with Loomer has sparked controversy in the past, particularly during his campaign activities.

Trump fires National Security Council staffers after Laura Loomer raises loyalty concerns

President Donald Trump reportedly fired multiple officials on his National Security Council shortly after he met with Laura Loomer in the Oval Office.

The president met with Loomer, a self-described “investigative journalist,” on Wednesday. Loomer has publicly accused Trump administration staffers of disloyalty and said there have been vetting failures at the NSC and elsewhere through various posts on X.

The New York Times reported Loomer discussed NSC staffers she said were disloyal. National security adviser Mike Waltz was present at the meeting.

Axios reported that three senior NSC officials were fired after the Loomer meeting at the White House. The firings came a week after the Signal group chat leak, in which the Atlantic‘s editor-in-chief was inadvertently added to a group chat with Waltz and other national security officials.

Loomer began posting about alleged “vetting failure[s]” after the Signal group chat leak and offered to vet staffers for the Trump administration.

When asked about the reported firings, NSC Spokesman Brian Hughes told the Washington Examiner in a statement, “NSC doesn’t comment on personnel matters.”

Loomer confirmed she met with Trump at the White House in a post on X on Thursday. While she declined to say what she discussed with Trump, Loomer emphasized “the necessity of STRONG VETTING” for the administration.

“I woke up this morning to learn that there are still people in and around the West Wing who are LEAKING to the hostile, left-wing media about President Trump’s *confidential* and *private* meetings in the Oval Office. I want to reiterate how important it is that people who gain access to the White House or the administration respect the privacy of their conversations with President Trump and his senior staff,” Loomer said.

The president’s association with Loomer on the campaign trail last year sparked controversy, specifically after she accompanied Trump during his visits to Sept. 11 memorial services in New York and Pennsylvania.

“She is a strong person. She has strong opinions, and I don’t know what she said, but that’s not up to me,” Trump said in September in response to a question about Loomer’s past controversial statements.
