Trump’s Georgia co-defendant claims he had the right to investigate 2020 election results under the First Amendment.
Indictments Against Trump and Advisors: America’s “Authoritarian Moment”
BREA, Calif.—According to embattled attorney John Eastman, the indictments against former President Donald Trump, his attorneys, and advisors for questioning the results of the 2020 elections mark America’s “authoritarian moment.” Mr. Eastman, a former dean of Orange County’s Chapman University’s law school and former advisor to Mr. Trump, is one of the 19 co-defendants indicted by a grand jury in Georgia over alleged efforts to dispute the election results in the state.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis charged all 19 individuals, including Mr. Trump, with violating the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act in the indictment (pdf).
