Former President Donald Trump‘s guilty verdict on Thursday was met with swift fundraising pleas from both political parties.

The presumptive GOP presidential nominee, congressional Republicans, and President Joe Biden mounted immediate fundraisers after Trump was found guilty by a Manhattan jury on all 34 criminal felony counts in his New York hush-money trial.

Trump’s campaign, as well as the fundraising arms for House and Senate Republicans, solicited donations from supporters to combat a “political witch hunt” that they said was designed to prevent him from winning the November election.

“I’M A POLITICAL PRISONER!” a Trump campaign fundraising email read. “I was just convicted in a RIGGED political Witch Hunt trial.”

The donations came in so fast that WinRed, the GOP political fundraising website, was overwhelmed and reportedly suffered technical difficulties

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) and the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) issued similar public fundraising pitches.

“This verdict is a sham, and the American people know it,” NRSC Chairman Steve Daines (R-MT) said in a statement. “Democrats weaponized the justice system and held a trial worthy of a banana republic. The judge, who is a donor to Joe Biden’s campaign, displayed extreme bias and this verdict should be overturned on appeal in order for justice to be served.”

In brief remarks made to reports standing outside the Manhattan courtroom, Trump railed against a “conflicted judge” for leading a “rigged, disgraceful trial.”

“The real verdict is going to be Nov. 5 by the people,” Trump said. “We didn’t do a thing wrong. I’m a very innocent man.”

Biden tweeted: “There’s only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: At the ballot box. Donate to our campaign today.”
