Trump Hires Former Jeb Bush Campaign Staffer To Lead Effort In Early 2024 Primary State
Former President Donald Trump has hired Trevor Naglieri, a former field coordinator for Jeb Bush’s 2016 presidential campaign, to lead his New Hampshire state campaign efforts in the 2024 presidential election, according to Politico. Despite winning the New Hampshire primary in 2016, Trump lost the state in both the 2016 and 2020 general elections. Trump’s decision to hire a former Bush campaign staffer comes after he has repeatedly claimed that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is part of the Republican Party establishment, attempting to link him to Bush and former House Speaker Paul Ryan.
The New Hampshire presidential primary is critical for candidates to build campaign momentum and takes place on February 13, 2024, as the nation’s first primary and the second party contest, after the Iowa caucuses.
Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie suggested on Monday that he may enter the 2024 presidential race to challenge Trump, speaking at St. Anselm’s College in New Hampshire, where he campaigned more than any other GOP candidate in 2016.
“You better have somebody on that stage who can do to him what I did to Marco because that’s the only thing that’s gonna defeat Donald Trump,” Christie said, recalling his attacks on Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) during their 2016 debate.
“And that means you gotta have the skill to do it and that means you have to be fearless because he will come back and right at you. It’s not gonna end nicely, and his end will not be a calm and quiet conclusion,” he added.
According to Mediaite, Christie’s remarks provoked laughter from the audience.
