Trump retaliates against Chris Christie over ‘Donald Duck’ nickname.

Former President Donald Trump dismisses‍ Chris ‌Christie’s nickname

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie recently gave⁢ Donald Trump a new nickname, “Donald⁢ Duck,” in reference to Trump’s absence from the second GOP presidential primary debate. Christie ‍criticized Trump for ‍skipping the event to attend a United Auto Workers strike in Michigan.

Can‍ GOP debaters pressure Trump ⁢to‍ show up?

During the debate, ⁣Christie directly addressed Trump, ⁤saying, “Donald, I know you’re watching. You can’t ⁣help yourself. You’re ducking these things. And ‌let me tell you what’s going to happen.⁣ You keep doing that, no one here’s going to‍ call ⁣you Donald⁢ Trump ⁣anymore. We’re going to⁣ call you Donald Duck.”

However, Trump was⁣ unimpressed with ⁤the nickname and responded in⁣ an interview with Fox ⁣News Digital, stating, ⁣”Anybody ⁣that would come up with that nickname‌ shouldn’t be running for president.”

Trump ⁤defended his decision to skip the debate, emphasizing the importance of dealing with the United Auto Workers strike and the potential impact of ‌the Biden administration’s plans for electric vehicles ⁢on jobs. He held a rally outside a nonunion auto parts factory while the debate took place.

Post-debate polling showed that ‍Christie came in fourth place among participants⁢ in terms⁣ of who voters thought “won” ⁣the debate. Former South Carolina‍ Gov. Nikki Haley had⁤ the best performance, despite having less speaking time. Trump ⁤currently holds a commanding ‌lead in⁣ the latest primary polls.

In ⁣a‍ head-to-head matchup against President Joe Biden, polls‍ show that Trump is in a dead heat with the incumbent commander in chief, although ‌one recent poll favored Trump‌ by 9 points. However, in a head-to-head matchup between Biden and Christie, Biden had a significant lead of 24 points.
