While mingling with attendees on the South Lawn, Trump delivered a quip that drew laughs, including from his wife, first lady Melania Trump.

“Remember when the Easter Bunny took out Joe Biden?” Trump said with a grin.

The president’s comments were in reference to a widely shared moment from Easter 2022 when an aide dressed as the Easter Bunny appeared to redirect a confused-looking former President Joe Biden after he began discussing Afghanistan and Pakistan with reporters.

“He’s not going to be taking Trump out!” the president added, making the first lady, who was standing nearby, giggle.

The joke was a nod to the discussion around Biden’s cognitive decline toward the end of his presidency, which has been the subject of political scrutiny renewed in recent headlines. “The first lady of the United States!” he declared, prompting the first lady to look up from her own coloring table with a smile.

As they strolled the South Lawn, the couple greeted children. At one point, a young boy leaned in for a high five, which the president gladly returned.
