Trump leads Republicans in trolling and welcoming Biden amid up-and-down night
As the country absorbs President Joe Biden’s latest attempt to reassure voters of his abilities, Republicans are taking a different approach to the presumptive Democratic nominee.
During a press conference where the aging president meant to prove he was fit to run the country, many Democrats argued Biden’s verbal gaffes accomplished just the opposite. Meanwhile, conservatives jumped at the opportunity to troll the commander-in-chief’s up-and-down performance.
As he addressed members of the media during his “big boy” presser, Biden mistakenly called Vice President Kamala Harris “Vice President Trump.” The incident on Thursday evening occurred during one of the highest-stakes media events of his political career. Republicans’ reaction was swift and antagonistic.
“Crooked Joe begins his ‘Big Boy’ Press Conference with, ‘I wouldn’t have picked Vice President Trump to be vice president…’ Great job, Joe!’” former President Donald Trump mocked in a post to Truth Social.
Trump’s son followed suit.
“Hahahahaha Vice President Trump,” Donald Trump Jr. laughed as he posted a video of Biden’s mistake to X. “I mean, he’s not well, but the Democrats should also be really upset that he then also miss-gendered Vice President Trump!”, the younger Trump mocked.
However, the former president’s son, as well as other Republicans, expressed their satisfaction with Biden’s performance, which, for a time, was regarded as steady and concise. Some left-leaning analysts have posited that this could mean Republicans want Biden to stay in the race so Donald Trump has the best chance of winning this November.

That alleged agenda did not stop other conservatives, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), from swarming social media with memes of Biden’s mistakes.
Earlier in the day, the president accidentally called Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky “President Putin,” the very man Zelensky is trying to defeat in his country’s war.
