Trump Or Biden In 2024? Americans — Neither!

The 2024 presidential election is still 694 days away, but already the pollsters are polling away.

Their takeaway? None of the above.

Pollsters with the CNBC All-America Economic Survey asked if President Joe Biden or former President Donald Trump should run again. The resounding answer for both: No.

The survey found that 61% of the public thinks Trump should not run again (even though he has already announced his bid). And even more (70%) said Biden shouldn’t run for a second term — just 19% want him to go again.

For Trump, 37% of Republicans don’t want him to run again; 61% of independents and 88% of Democrats agree.

Again, worse for Biden: 57% of Democrats said No Joe in ’24, along with 66% of independents and 86% of Republicans.

The poll found that 47% of those who don’t think Biden should run cited age as a major reason, including 61% of Democrats and 66% of seniors, CNBC reported. The younger set was different: just 43% of the 18-49 demographic group cite age as a major reason for Biden, 80, not to run.

Biden also isn’t faring too well with the bookies — who, unlike pollsters, actually put their money where their mouths are.

“Biden’s crushed approval ratings and worsening betting odds are causing Democrats to wonder if he is the right figure to take on Trump in 2024,” said Joe Short of Gambling.com. “According to the Wall Street Journal, Democrats expect him to go for a second term at the age of 82, but they’re not sure he should.”

“To make matters even worse for Biden, he is now third favorite to win the 2024 US Presidential election, behind both Trump (3/1) and Florida’s Republican governor Ron DeSantis (4/1),” he said.

Short said that Biden initially appeared willing to cede power to his Vice President Kamala Harris after just one term, but she’s not faring too well to bookies, either. She has “floated way out to 12/1 with bet365 to be the next U.S. president. Evidently, punters and U.K. bookmakers are looking no further than Biden when it comes to Democratic names in 2024.”

Biden’s odds of serving until January 20, 2025, are “at their worst since November 2021, as betting sites maintain a level of uncertainty over the veteran’s longevity in the White House.”

“Biden’s first 18 months as president have been dogged by political issues at home and abroad. America has come out of the COVID-19 pandemic more divided than ever, and a cost of living crisis is beginning to pinch,” Short said. “Betting apps have dropped their odds on the president being ousted before his first four years have elapsed.”

According to political betting sites, Biden is “now 7/4 to lose his job before 2024. That suggests a 36% probability – the highest his chances of being ousted as president have been since last autumn,” the oddsmaker said.
