During a Fox News town hall with Sean Hannity, former President Donald Trump made bold claims about President Joe Biden’s alleged compromise by a foreign government. Trump questioned why Biden is not facing impeachment for this offense.
“Until I got indicted, I had such respect for the office of the president. I didn’t want to say things [about Biden],” Trump began. “Sean, we have a compromised president. China gives him millions of dollars. If he is giving Biden millions of dollars, he’s compromised.”
Trump went on to suggest that the uncovered misdeeds of Biden are just the tip of the iceberg, with much more yet to be discovered.
“That’s only the stuff they found,” the former president continued, amid applause from the audience. ”There’s a lot of other things. There will be some things that you never find, but there’s a lot of other things; so he’s getting millions of dollars illegally from China, and then you say, ‘hey, they impeached me over a phone call that was perfect.’ Why aren’t they impeaching Biden for receiving tens of millions of dollars? Why isn’t he under impeachment?”
Trump’s reference to the “perfect” phone call alludes to the call with the Ukrainian president that led to his own impeachment, marking the first impeachment since then-President Bill Clinton.
It’s worth noting that Trump is not alone in calling for Biden’s impeachment. The idea has gained traction among Republicans due to the House’s investigation into an alleged criminal scheme involving the Biden family.
