Trump Rallies in Nevada for GOP Senate and Gubernatorial Nominees
Former President Donald Trump urged Republicans to fight creeping censorship, saying efforts to silence dissent and deploy law enforcement against opponents were pushing America to a “tipping point.”
At a rally Saturday night in Minden, Nev., Trump urged Republicans to turn out in November in large numbers and support the GOP slate that includes Senate nominee Adam Laxalt and gubernatorial nominee Joe Lombardo. Both are leading in the latest polls.
“As bad as things are today, if the radical Democrats keep their grip on the House and the Senate, your finances, your family, your community, and your country will never be able to recover,” Trump told the crowd. “We are at a tipping point. This is right now a tipping point.
“Every freedom-loving American needs to understand the time to stand up to this growing tyranny is right now in this election. We have to do it. We don’t have the luxury of waiting,” he added.
He said if Republicans captured Congress in the midterms, it was essential they pass legislation that reverses a growing trend toward censorship.
“The Democrats are locking up their political opponents, spying on their political rivals, silencing dissent, and using the full force of government, law enforcement and the media, the fake media … to try to crush our movement,” he warned.
“One of our highest priorities under a Republican Congress will be to stop left wing censorship and to restore free speech in America,” he added.
His comments came after Just the News recently reported that federal agencies worked with a private consortium to flag content to be censored by social media companies during the 2020 election, and PayPal announced and then reversed a policy that would have let it fine users $2500 if they spread “misinformation.”
