Trump responds to Murdoch’s resignation as Fox, News Corp chief.

Former President Donald Trump Acknowledges Retirement of Media Mogul Rupert Murdoch

On Friday, ⁣former President Donald Trump publicly recognized the retirement of Rupert ‍Murdoch, the influential media tycoon who recently announced his departure from his multi-billion-dollar media empire. Trump took this opportunity‍ to call ‍for new leadership, specifically targeting ‍Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), whose health has raised concerns after experiencing another⁣ “freeze-up”⁤ incident earlier this⁣ month.

“Many people are saying that, ‘You⁤ forced Rupert ⁢Murdoch into retirement!'” President Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I do not believe this is so, ⁤but while we’re at it, how about getting rid of ‘Democrat’ Mitch McConnell, who gives the Radical Left Lunatics, together ‍with his small band of automatic ‘yes’ votes, EVERYTHING they want.”

The retirement announcement from Murdoch came⁢ just a‍ day‌ before Trump’s acknowledgment. Murdoch revealed that he will step down as the⁤ head of Fox Corporation, ‌which⁢ owns Fox News and the⁢ Fox ‌broadcast channel, as well⁣ as ⁤News Corp, ‌the parent company of publishers like the Wall Street Journal and the New York Post. ‍The transition of leadership roles will take place in November.

In a letter to employees, the 92-year-old Australian-born billionaire emphasized that both he and ‌his companies are in “robust health.” While he⁢ didn’t explicitly use the term “retirement,”‌ he described the change as ⁤a “transition” and assured his continued involvement as an⁣ “active member” of the‍ companies ⁤he built. His son,‍ Lachlan ⁤Murdoch,‌ will‌ assume the role of News Corp. chairman and continue as the CEO of Fox Corp.

“I congratulate my father⁣ on his remarkable 70-year career,” stated Lachlan Murdoch in a released statement. “We ⁢are grateful that he will serve as chairman emeritus and know⁣ he will⁤ continue to provide valued counsel.”

President Trump has been openly critical of Murdoch in recent months, ⁢particularly after it was revealed that the media mogul expressed regret in a testimony given⁢ as part of‌ a defamation‌ lawsuit. Murdoch admitted that some of his Fox News hosts should have been more⁣ forceful in denouncing the claim⁢ that the 2020 election was “stolen”‍ due to widespread voter ‌fraud.

“I would have liked us to be stronger in denouncing ‍it, in hindsight,” Murdoch stated.

In another part of the‌ testimony, Murdoch‌ criticized MyPillow founder and Trump ‌supporter Mike ‍Lindell for appearing on Tucker Carlson’s show‌ and⁣ repeating the⁤ election fraud ‍claim without Carlson challenging it.

As a result, Carlson was eventually let go in April and‌ has since launched his ⁢own talk show on ⁢Twitter, now known as X, where he has garnered a larger viewership than any other ⁣show in ⁢cable news history.

“Why is Rupert Murdoch throwing his anchors under the table, which also⁤ happens to⁤ be killing his case and infuriating his viewers, ⁣who will again be leaving in droves—they already are,” President Trump wrote on Truth Social in February. “There⁣ is MASSIVE evidence of voter ⁢fraud & irregularities ‍in the 2020 Presidential Election.”

In August, ⁣President Trump ⁤once again accused Murdoch⁢ of ⁢being part of a “globalist” agenda⁢ aimed at undermining his MAGA (Make ‌America Great Again) ⁤platform.

“Rupert Murdoch is⁤ a globalist,” ‌he stated in one of ‌the many video clips he⁢ shared on Truth ⁣Social. “You don’t know that. ⁣And I am America first, it’s very simple. I put America first. It will always be that way, so‌ get used to it.”

President Trump also criticized the Wall Street Journal for allegedly favoring Republican nomination contender Florida Gov. Ron⁤ DeSantis, claiming the newspaper has lost its way.

“They pushed DeSanctimonious so hard, and ‍now they’re looking for ⁢someone else because he’s failed,” he ⁢said, referring to DeSantis as a ⁤”Murdoch pick” who has “fallen like a very badly injured bird out of the sky.”

Despite the upcoming Republican primary being more than four‍ months away, President Trump maintains a ‌significant lead ‌in the field. ⁢Citing ‌his strong⁢ performance in polls,⁤ he opted to skip ⁢the first primary debate hosted by Fox News and instead sat ‍down for an‍ interview with Mr. Carlson on X.

A second debate is scheduled ‍for September 27 ‍at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California.⁤ It will be co-moderated by anchors from Fox News and Univision. President Trump is expected to deliver a speech to Detroit’s autoworker union members, who have gone on strike after failing to reach a deal with auto companies transitioning to electric vehicle manufacturing, rather than‌ participating in the event.

How does Trump’s criticism of McConnell and endorsement of his potential retirement reflect the power struggle within the Republican Party

‌Ory. This rift between Trump and Murdoch escalated further when Trump endorsed McConnell’s potential retirement, ‍suggesting it was in response to his distaste for the ⁢media mogul.

Despite Trump’s claims, it is important to note that Murdoch himself announced his retirement,⁢ and there is no evidence to suggest⁣ that Trump had‌ any influence over this decision. Moreover, the retirement of a media figure as influential as Murdoch ⁢raises‍ questions about the future ‍of conservative media⁣ and its impact on American politics.

Murdoch has long been regarded as⁤ a kingmaker in ‌Republican politics,⁢ using his media empire to shape public opinion and support⁢ conservative candidates. Fox News, in ⁤particular, has been a ‍major platform for Trump and his supporters, providing favorable coverage and amplifying his message to millions of viewers. With Murdoch’s departure, there‌ is a void in conservative⁤ media leadership that will need to be filled.

Trump’s‌ call for new ‌leadership and his targeting of McConnell, who has long been a⁢ staunch supporter of Trump’s policies, is indicative of the ongoing power ⁢struggle within the ⁢Republican Party. As Trump continues to exert his influence over GOP politics, his criticism of⁢ McConnell and his support ⁤for potential primary challengers signal his desire ‍to reshape the party in his image.

While it remains to be seen whether McConnell will retire,‍ his health concerns and Trump’s endorsement of his potential departure highlight⁣ the shifting dynamics within the Republican Party. McConnell has been
