Trump Responds to Indictment

Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, responded on Thursday to reports that he had been indicted by a grand jury in Manhattan. The indictment, which alleges that he paid porn actress Stormy Daniels $130,000 in hush money, was filed under seal, according to The New York Times.

The report claims that the indictment will be announced in the coming days, and that Trump will be compelled to turn himself in and face arraignment. He is the first former U.S. President in history to face criminal charges.

Reacting to the news, Trump said, “This is Political Persecution and Election Interference at the highest level in history.” He accused Democrats of being engaged in a “Witch-Hunt” against him since he announced his candidacy for President.

Trump claimed that the investigation into his campaign’s ties to Russia and his first impeachment were examples of political persecution. He also accused Democrats of weaponizing law enforcement agencies against him.

“Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, who was hand-picked and funded by George Soros, is a disgrace,” Trump said. He accused Bragg of ignoring crime in New York City to do “Joe Biden’s dirty work.”

The indictment comes at a time when Trump is facing legal issues in several other criminal investigations, including allegations that he tried to overturn the 2020 Presidential election.

The Wall Street Journal has reported that the Manhattan DA’s office is also examining a $150,000 payment made to former Playboy model Karen McDougal. The alleged hush money payment could lead to additional charges against Trump.

Lawyers for Trump have denied that he was aware of the McDougal payment, and he has denied having an affair with her. McDougal claims that the affair began in 2006 and lasted 10 months.

Trump predicted that the indictment would backfire on Democrats. However, the legal consequences of the indictment remain to be seen.
