Justice Department Requests Protective Order in Trump Case
In a Friday night court filing, Justice Department Special Counsel Jack Smith made a request to the federal judge overseeing former President Donald Trump’s case. The request was for a “protective order“ in response to a social media post made by the former president.
The Aug. 4 Truth Social post by Mr. Trump said, “IF YOU GO AFTER ME, I’M COMING AFTER YOU!”
Concerned about the implications of this post, Mr. Smith urged U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan to enter a protective order governing the proceedings.
