Trump Responds to CNN Anchor’s Demand to Cut Footage of Supporters

Former President Donald Trump fired back at CNN’s Jake Tapper after the anchor called for the network to stop airing footage of Trump’s event with enthusiastic supporters. Tapper’s comments came shortly after Trump pleaded not guilty to federal charges related to mishandling classified documents.

Trump took to social media to criticize Tapper, suggesting that his remarks are a contributing factor to CNN’s low ratings. The former president wrote on his platform, Truth Social, “Fake Tapper just demanded that his broadcast be closed down from Miami because there was far too much enthusiasm on the streets for ‘Trump.’ The good news is, he was the only one to do so, perhaps a good explanation as to why CNN’s ratings are so low!”

During CNN’s coverage, Trump supporters could be heard cheering and wishing him a happy birthday in the background. Tapper expressed his disapproval, stating, “He’s trying to turn this into a spectacle, a campaign ad. That’s enough of that.”

Trump’s Arrest and Indictment

Tapper also highlighted the reason behind the coverage, emphasizing that Trump is accused of breaking national security laws and obstructing the FBI’s investigation. He said, “We need to remember that the reason we are watching this is because Donald Trump is accused of breaking some very serious national security laws and then obstructing and refusing to cooperate with the FBI.”

Not only did CNN refrain from airing Trump’s speech at his New Jersey residence, but MSNBC also made the same decision. MSNBC host Rachel Maddow explained that they chose not to broadcast the speech due to concerns about its accuracy and potential danger.

Both Tapper and Maddow defended their choices, with Tapper stating, “We’re not carrying his remarks live because, frankly, he says a lot of things that are not true and sometimes potentially dangerous.” Maddow added that their decision aimed to protect the journalistic integrity of her show.

Despite the backlash from Trump and his supporters, CNN and MSNBC stood by their decision to limit coverage of the former president’s events.
