Trump Reverses Plan to Plead 5th After 7-Hour Deposition From Far-Left NY AG Letitia James
On Thursday, former US President Donald Trump appeared in Manhattan for a deposition with New York Attorney General Letitia James, who alleged in her lawsuit against the former president and his children that they engaged in fraudulent business practices resulting in the misrepresentation of their net worth and value of their properties. Trump, who had previously plead the fifth hundreds of times during his first deposition, expressed eagerness to testify and ended up doing so for seven hours. His lawyer, Christopher Kise, stated that during the deposition Trump boasted about the success of his businesses, and added that the claims of fraud against the former president and his family members would be scoffed at when facts about the success of the transactions in question are revealed. Fellow attorney Alina Habba stated that Trump remains resolute in his stance that he has nothing to conceal.
Last year, Trump’s children, Don Jr, Eric, and Ivanka, were deposed and questioned on the matter. While Don Jr and Ivanka answered questions, Eric plead the fifth. The former president slammed James as a “racist” prior to his deposition, accusing her of leaking information about his arrival in Manhattan and stating that the civil case was ridiculous, much like all of the other Election Interference cases that were brought against him. Trump is also currently fighting a case brought by Manhattan AG Alvin Bragg, which is unrelated to the current case brought by James.
