Trump refuses to pledge support for GOP nominee if he loses primary.
Former President Donald Trump Rejects Republican Party’s “Beat Biden” Pledge
In a recent interview, former President Donald Trump made it clear that he would not be signing the Republican Party’s “beat Biden” loyalty pledge. This pledge requires candidates to declare their support for the GOP nominee in the 2024 presidential election if they want to participate in the party’s primary debates.
Trump expressed his reservations about the pledge, stating, “I have a problem with the debate for another reason: I wouldn’t sign the pledge. Why would I sign a pledge? There are people on there that I wouldn’t have.” He further emphasized that he would not endorse certain individuals, making it difficult for him to commit to the pledge.
While Trump did not specify which candidates he would not endorse, he did criticize Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, and former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson during the interview.

The “Beat Biden Pledge” that candidates must sign states, “Additionally, I affirm that if I do not win the 2024 Republican nomination for President of the United States, I will honor the will of the primary voters and support the nominee in order to save our country and beat Joe Biden.” It also includes a commitment not to run as an independent or seek the nomination of any other party.

When asked about his participation in the debates, Trump told Breitbart News that he had not yet made a decision. The Daily Wire reached out to the Republican National Committee (RNC) to inquire about the consequences of not signing the pledge. The RNC referred to a previous statement by chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, emphasizing that all candidates must sign the pledge and that intent would be taken into account.
Regarding concerns raised by Chris Christie, who indicated that he may not honor the pledge after signing it, the RNC again referred to McDaniel’s statement, highlighting the importance of honesty and commitment to supporting the nominee chosen by the voters.
