Trump Calls for Liz Cheney’s Imprisonment, Ex-Congresswoman Hits Back
The Tug-of-War of Truth: Trump vs. Cheney Heats Up
In a stunning turn of events, former President Donald Trump ignited controversy by stating on Sunday that Liz Cheney, former Wyoming representative, and her colleagues from the dissolved January 6 Committee deserve to be behind bars.
New Revelations Undermine Committee Findings
In light of a House GOP report released last week, significant doubts were cast on the allegations made by former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson. According to the report, Trump’s driver on January 6, 2021, contradicted Hutchinson’s explosive claim that Trump tried to seize the steering wheel in a bid to redirect the SUV to the Capitol and that he physically assaulted his security head.
Cheney Accused of Withholding Evidence
The plot thickened as John Solomon, CEO and Editor in Chief of Just the News, pointed out on Trump’s Truth Social platform an intriguing detail: Cheney partook in interviewing the driver herself but failed to include the exculpatory denial in the committee’s final report.
“She should go to Jail along with the rest of the Unselect Committee!” Trump proclaimed fervently, advocating for severe consequences. Moreover, he shared articles about the House Administration’s Subcommittee on Oversight’s findings, chaired by Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA).
Cheney’s Defiant Comeback and a Hint at 2024
Cheney, who has hinted at potentially joining the 2024 presidential fray, swiftly responded to Trump’s allegations. In a sharp tweet, she retorted with a screenshot of his Truth Social post and paired it with references to the 2020 election interference cases pending against him.
Hi Donald: you know these are lies. You have had all the grand jury & J6 transcripts for many months. You’re trying to halt your 1/6 trial because your VP, WH counsel, WH aides, campaign & DOJ officials etc will testify against you. You’re afraid of the truth and you should be. https://t.co/6L3N61OJw1

“Hi Donald: you know these are lies,” she asserted. “You have had all the grand jury & J6 transcripts for many months. You’re trying to halt your 1/6 trial because your VP, WH counsel, WH aides, campaign & DOJ officials etc will testify against you. You’re afraid of the truth and you should be.”
Trump is entangled in four criminal cases, including two centering on the January 6 Capitol breach and the 2020 election, as well as civil litigation. Consistently, he has dismissed any wrongdoing, framing the legal pursuits as a politically charged “witch hunt.”
Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), former chair of the January 6 Committee, also countered the GOP report’s findings. “The Select Committee’s final report took into account the testimony of all witnesses,” he reiterated in a statement, maintaining that all evidence unmistakably points to Trump desiring to join the insurgent crowd and his displeasure when denied by his security detail.
Calls for Congressional Action
To add fuel to the debate, Kash Patel, a prominent figure from Trump’s administration, called for decisive action during a Fox News interview. He urged for immediate legislative inquiry into Cheney’s conduct, stating, “Somebody should be subpoenaing her tomorrow to ask her what other information of innocence she withheld,“ underscoring the gravity of what he believes could be an “insurrection exoneration” of Trump, which Cheney allegedly attempted to suppress.
