Trump accuses mainstream media of spreading lies about the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Trump Accuses Mainstream Media of Lying About Russia-Ukraine War
Former President Donald Trump has accused mainstream media outlets of spreading falsehoods about the Russia-Ukraine war. In a recent event with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Trump expressed his belief that the death toll and destruction are much higher than what is being reported. He described cities with completely demolished buildings, contrasting it with the minimal casualties mentioned in the news.
“You have cities with no building standing. It looks like just a demolition zone. It’s so horrible and, you know, and then they’ll say two people were hurt,” Mr. Trump told Hannity.
“Hundreds of people and thousands of people were killed. You’re gonna find out when this whole thing is over that the number of people killed is far greater than they tell you. They’re not telling you the truth. Many, many thousands, hundreds of thousands of people are dying. Their cities are being obliterated.”
Trump emphasized his commitment to ending the war and preventing further loss of life. He also shared his plan to resolve the conflict, mentioning his good relationship with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump stated that he would urge Zelenskyy to make a deal and warn Putin that failure to do so would result in significant consequences.
Despite Trump’s assertions, Zelenskyy has expressed doubts about the feasibility of quickly ending the war. He has also voiced concerns about the level of support he would receive from potential Republican presidential candidates in 2024.
In a previous statement, Trump claimed that he could end the war within 24 hours if elected. He cited his familiarity with Zelenskyy and Putin as key factors in achieving a swift resolution.
Trump Criticizes Department of Justice Investigation
During the same event with Hannity, Trump also expressed his frustration with a Department of Justice investigation targeting his post-2020 election statements and efforts. This came shortly after he revealed that he had received a target letter in the case.
“They’re in a rush, because they want to interfere. It’s interference with the election,” Trump stated.
