Former President Donald Trump‘s campaign announced Thursday it raised just under $139 million in July, a boost from his campaign’s June fundraising numbers that came in just shy of $112 million.
The campaign and affiliated committees raised $138.7 million and have $327 million cash on hand in the same month that saw Trump accept the Republican presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention, survive a failed assassination attempt, announce Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) as his running mate, and saw President Joe Biden step down from the campaign.
“These numbers reflect continued momentum with donors at every level and provide the resources for the final 96 days until victory November 5th,” the Trump campaign wrote in an emailed statement.
However, those figures will pale behind Vice President Kamala Harris’s fundraising figures after her nascent campaign announced it had raised $200 million in just one week and added 170,000 volunteers after Biden’s surprise announcement on July 21 that he was withdrawing from the race and endorsing her as the Democratic presidential nominee.
Democrats have quickly seized on the excitement of the 59-year-old Harris replacing the 81-year-old Biden in the battle against the 78-year-old Trump. Several affinity groups, including white women, black men, black women, and white men, have held Zoom calls to raise millions of dollars in support of Harris who has less than 100 days to build out a campaign.
Harris’s campaign has not yet released the total July figures, but given the Democratic Party’s energy and momentum, she could break fundraising numbers. It will also help her quickly attack Trump, who is attempting to brand Harris as a radical liberal in voter’s minds.
The vice president is set to announce her running mate by Tuesday, which will further boost her coffers before the party gathers for the Democratic National Convention in Chicago starting Aug. 19.
Democratic delegates are currently holding a virtual roll call to nominate Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee.
