Trump criticizes Hunter Biden for refusing to comply with a House subpoena, while emphasizing his strong support before the Iowa caucus
Former President Donald Trump Urges Iowa Voters to Take Action
In an electrifying rally held in Coralville, Iowa, former President Donald Trump passionately appealed to the state’s voters as the Jan. 15 caucus draws near. Despite his commanding lead in the polls, Trump warned the crowd not to be complacent, urging them to cast their votes and make their voices heard.
“We’re way, way, way up, but you have to do me a favor: Just go out and vote,” Trump emphasized. “We have to put big numbers, really big numbers. Sometimes, you know, you’re leading by so much. They say, ‘Oh, I think, let’s sit home and watch a movie.’ You know, ’We’ll watch the results afterwards.’ We don’t want to do that. You gotta get out and vote.”
Impeachment Inquiry and Contempt of Congress
Interestingly, Trump’s rally coincided with the House of Representatives’ vote to authorize an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. Adding to the drama, Hunter Biden, the president’s son, defied a subpoena and held a press conference instead of appearing for a scheduled deposition before the House Oversight Committee. This move prompted House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) and House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) to initiate the process of holding Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress.
In response to these events, Trump couldn’t resist making a jab, asking the crowd, “Did you see Hunter today? He went to the wrong place. He went to the Senate instead of the House. Everyone’s saying, ’Where’s Hunter?'”
Trump’s Vision for the Future
During his rally, Trump didn’t hold back in criticizing the Biden administration. He vowed to “restore law and order” once back in the White House, highlighting what he perceives as a “two-tier system of justice.” Additionally, he promised to overhaul the Department of Justice, strengthen border security, and address the controversial issue of transgender athletes in women’s sports.
Not one to shy away from self-praise, Trump also boasted about his cognitive ability, sharing the results of his recent physical and cognitive exams.
“I took a physical, passed it. I thought I had an obligation,” Trump revealed. “I took a cognitive and aced it. I said, ‘Which did I do better on? My physical or my cognitive?’ He said, ‘Actually, sir, your cognitive.’ And I wasn’t sure I [was] happy about that one. He said, ‘Your cognitive is incredible!'”
Trump’s Dominance in the Republican Party
According to FiveThirtyEight, Trump continues to dominate his Republican counterparts in the race for the party’s nomination. Polling at an impressive 61.5%, he leaves Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley trailing far behind, with DeSantis at 12.1% and Haley at 11.3%.

How did Trump use a recent event involving Biden’s son to argue for the need of strong conservative leadership?
Son, was held in contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a subpoena relating to his international business dealings. Trump seized on these developments, arguing that they demonstrate the need for strong conservative leadership in the country.
“The Democrats are playing their games, folks,” Trump declared. “You see what happened today. They’re trying to impeach Joe Biden and his son is in contempt of Congress. Can you believe it? This is what we’re dealing with. We need someone who’s tough on China, tough on crime, and tough on the radical left. That’s what I’ve been doing, and that’s what we need in the White House.”
The Future of the Republican Party
Trump’s speech also touched on the future of the Republican Party, urging unity and continued support for his policy agenda. He emphasized the need for Republicans to stay true to their conservative values and fight against the Democrats’ agenda.
“We’ve made tremendous progress over the past four years. We brought back jobs, cut taxes, and secured our borders. But the fight is far from over,” Trump stated. “We have to keep fighting for the American people, for our great nation. The Democrats want to dismantle everything we’ve achieved, and we can’t let that happen.”
He also addressed the mainstream media’s portrayal of Republicans, stating that they are constantly misrepresented and unfairly treated. Trump urged his supporters to push back against these biases and continue to support the conservative movement.
Making America Great Again
As in his previous campaign rallies, Trump reiterated his slogan of “Make America Great Again” and his commitment to putting the interests of the American people first. He highlighted his administration’s accomplishments and promised to continue fighting for the country’s prosperity and security.
“We’ve done so much, but there’s still so much more to do. We need to rebuild our economy, strengthen our military, and secure our borders. We have to put America first in every decision we make,” Trump asserted. “I love this country, and I will never stop fighting for its greatness.”
The Call to Action
In his closing remarks, Trump urged the Iowa voters to take action and ensure their voices are heard. He reminded them of the impact their votes hold and encouraged them to rally their friends and family to support his candidacy.
“Iowa, you have the power to shape the future of this country. Don’t waste it,” Trump said. “Tell your friends, your neighbors, everyone you know to get out and vote. We can’t afford to let the Democrats undo everything we’ve accomplished. We need your support, and together, we will keep America great!”
As Trump’s speech came to an end, the crowd erupted in applause and cheers, invigorated by his passionate plea. With the Jan. 15 caucus approaching, it remains to be seen whether his call to action will resonate with Iowa voters and secure him another victory in the state.
