Trump Spy Chief John Ratcliffe Flips Script, Says Indictment Leak Is A Crime
Former U.S. congressman and federal prosecutor who served as Director of National Intelligence in Donald Trump’s administration, John Ratcliffe, has stated that leaked details about Trump’s indictment are grounds for criminal charges. Reports state that Trump faces around 30 counts related to business fraud as part of the investigation led by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Ratcliffe said that the only felony of which they can conclude is the felony committed by DA Bragg himself, or someone on the grand jury that he is using for this perversion of our justice system as leaking grand jury information is a felony. Trump’s attorney Joe Tacopina confirmed that the indictment revolved around hush money payments to actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election cycle, but the exact details remain unclear. Ratcliffe and Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz noted that such a violation of New York penal law could warrant up to five years behind bars. Republicans in Congress have opened an investigation seeking documents and testimony from Bragg’s team, while Bragg has urged GOP lawmakers to let the criminal justice process proceed without unlawful political interference. The arraignment is set for Tuesday in New York, and Trump’s re-election campaign has announced that he would deliver a public address from his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on Tuesday night.
