Trump starting on a high of support better than 2016

President-elect Donald Trump is starting his second administration with even greater support than he had in 2017 when he first arrived in Washington, D.C., as the nation’s 45th president to unveil his “America First” agenda.

Now, as the incoming 47th president after derailing President Joe Biden and beating Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump is viewed more favorably than he was in his first try.

The latest Rasmussen Reports survey, shared Monday with Secrets, said 53% of people view Trump favorably despite the liberal media’s declaration of war on his Cabinet picks.

That’s better than the 51% favorability when he entered office for the first time in 2017.

“Predictably, Democrats and Republicans have widely divergent opinions about Trump,” said the analysis, adding, “Eighty-nine percent of Republicans view Trump favorably, while 78% of Democrats have an unfavorable impression of the president-elect. Among voters not affiliated with either major party, Trump is viewed favorably by 51% and unfavorably by 48%.”

Those close numbers have allowed critics to claim that Trump does not have a “mandate.” However, his team believes that in winning the Electoral College and popular vote, Trump’s mandate is clear, and it includes closing the border, eliminating regulations, and “draining the swamp.”

Rasmussen confirmed that most groups like Trump, thus boosting his claim of mandate.

“Trump is viewed favorably by 57% of whites, 42% of black voters, 52% of Hispanics and 40% of other minorities. Majorities of every age group have a favorable opinion of Trump,” added the pollster.

In a similar Emerson College Poll, Trump was shown to be entering office with one of his highest approval ratings ever, at 54%. Even before he went back on his promises and pardoned his son, Biden was shown to be at his lowest approval rating ever, at just 36%.
