Adding to his list of appointments over the weekend, President-elect Donald Trump announced that British television producer Mark Burnett will be his special envoy to the United Kingdom.
In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump said Burnett “brings a unique blend of diplomatic acumen and international recognition to this important role,” and outlined Burnett’s experience in television, including his work on The Apprentice, which Trump starred in for 14 seasons.

“It is my great honor to appoint Mark Burnett as the Special Envoy to the United Kingdom. With a distinguished career in television production and business, Mark brings a unique blend of diplomatic acumen and international recognition to this important role,” he said.
“Mark is known for creating and producing some of the biggest shows in Television History, including ‘Survivor,’ ‘Shark Tank,’ ‘The Voice’ and, most notably, ‘The Apprentice.’ He is the former Chairman of MGM, and has won 13 Emmy Awards!” Trump added.
In this role, Burnett will “work to enhance diplomatic relations, focusing on areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment opportunities, and cultural exchanges,” according to the statement.
Earlier this month, Trump nominated billionaire businessman Warren Stephens as U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom, a position that will need to be confirmed by the Senate.
The special envoy post, however, does not need to be confirmed by the Senate.
