Trump Tells Iowa: DeSantis Is ‘Disciple’ of Paul Ryan, Akin to Mitt Romney
Even though Florida Gov. While Ron DeSantis has not yet declared his presidential candidacy, the former President Donald Trump took a swipe at him during a March 13 speech in Davenport.
Three days after DeSantis gave an apparent Prelude speech to campaign in that city, Trump told a cheering crowd that he thinks people are starting to look into DeSantis’ track record as a Congressman. Trump led DeSantis with a 14.7-point lead in the Real Clear Politics average national polls.
Iowa is an important state to any GOP presidential candidate. Its 2024 caucuses will kick off the GOP’s presidential primary campaign season.
DeSantis was a five-year veteran of Congress, before becoming Florida’s governor. “Republican-in-Name-Only” Trump stated that RINO politicians are his. DeSantis was “a disciple of Paul Ryan, who is a RINO loser,” and is “currently destroying” Fox News, where he is a board member, Trump said.
And, Trump said, “Ron reminds me a lot of Mitt Romney,” the U.S. Senator from Utah who lost a presidential bid in 2012 to President Barack Obama.
Then Trump hit DeSantis on an issue that is of major consequence to Iowa. He declared that DeSantis was “very, very bad on ethanol,” A fuel source that is derived from wheat and corn; Iowa is the country’s largest producer.
‘War on Agriculture’
Trump stated that he worked hard for ethanol throughout his four-year term as president.
Trump claimed that Iowans took care of him, and that he would continue taking care of them if the White House is won again. Trump won the state in the November 2016 and 2020 elections. Despite Trump’s protestations about election irregularities, Joe Biden, a Democrat, was declared the 2020 winner.
Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds joked, while introducing Trump’s latest speech. “Joe Biden isn’t just asleep at the wheel. That car is out of gas!”
She joined a group of Iowa state officeholders who pledged their support to Trump.
Trump made a scathing attack on Biden during his speech. “a nonstop war on agriculture.” He said that Biden had been a traitor. “has tried to totally kill ethanol” Policies that harm farmers have been implemented by the government.
Trump, however, stated that “We put workers first. We put farmers first. And above all, we put America first,” A crowd of 2,411 people gathered in a theatre to hear me speak. Social media posts showed that a queue of people waited to enter the theatre as temperatures plummeted to the 30s.
Trump claimed that while serving in the presidency, he pushed through farm-friendly policies. These included tax-code changes that are favorable to farmers who wish to leave their land to their heirs.
“We made the farming business great—made it great again, if you think about it,” Trump stated, in reference to his typical “Make America Great America Great Again” Campaign slogan for the (MAGA). “Now it’s slipping away a little bit, but we’ll get that back real fast.”
Trump stated that while farmers have been struggling to cope with the skyrocketing fertilizer prices, which have soared 300 percent, their net farm income is expected to drop 16 percent by 2023.
“Within hours of my inauguration, I will cancel every Biden policy that’s brutalizing our farms,” He said it, drawing one of the loudest cheers that evening. He spoke for almost two hours, with some questions-and-answer sessions with a few audience members.
Comic Relief for Serious Subjects
Trump was greeted with cheers by the crowd when he spoke against the law. “inappropriate” Lessons for children that contain sexual, political and racial content.
Another Trump promise that received a loud ovation was the withholding of federal funds from schools. “from kindergarten through college,” They will not enforce any COVID vaccine requirements or mask-wearing restrictions.

Trump stated that he doesn’t like basketball star LeBron Jam. “But I’d say, ‘Hey, LeBron, you ever think of becoming a woman? Because you’re gonna be on my team. We’re gonna go undefeated for the next five years, LeBron.'”
The former president referred to the current investigations he is facing, as well as rumours that he may be indicted.
“They’re breaking every law to persecute us while Joe Biden’s brazen corruption and criminality is totally ignored,” He stated. Trump claimed evidence of possible wrongdoing was found on a laptop computer Hunter Biden had used. Former president still calls the device “The Device.” “The Laptop from Hell.”
Our enemies want to stop us.” Trump said, “They know that they can’t be stopped by us.”
