Trump To Be Arraigned Next Week In Manhattan
Following an indictment earlier this week, former President Donald Trump is expected to appear in a Manhattan courthouse for arraignment on Tuesday, according to court officials.
Although Trump’s attorney Joe Tacopina expects his client to turn himself in, he does not anticipate handcuffs will be necessary. Tacopina also stated that Trump will not accept a plea deal and that there is no crime to begin with. Legal challenges are expected to arise before the case makes it to trial.
Once Trump surrenders voluntarily, he will be subject to fingerprinting and photography before his initial court appearance.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg was authorized by a judge to publicly disclose the indictment on Thursday. Bragg later confirmed the indictment and revealed plans being made for Trump’s surrender and arraignment.
The New York City Police Department has ordered all 36,000 police officers and 19,000 civilian employees to come to work in full uniform to deter possible unrest, but there are currently no credible threats to the city.
