Trump To Deliver Mar-a-Lago Speech After Arraignment
Former President of the United States, Donald Trump, is scheduled to deliver a public speech on Tuesday at 8:15 EDT at his resort in Palm Beach, Florida, following his arraignment earlier that day in Manhattan. There have been no announcements regarding the content of his speech.
Trump is the first former President to face criminal charges, as a grand jury indicted him last week in New York City. His attorney expects the charges to be related to hush money payments to Stormy Daniels, an adult film actress, during the 2016 election cycle. Despite these allegations, Trump denies having conducted any wrongdoing and believes this to be a “political persecution.”
Aside from this indictment, Trump also faces other investigations that could lead to charges, specifically regarding the 2020 election in Georgia and his handling of documents associated with the events surrounding January 6th, 2021, led by special counsel Jack Smith.
In addition to Trump, other individuals have entered the 2024 race for the Republican presidential nomination, such as former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. Recently, former Governor of Arkansas, Asa Hutchinson, announced his campaign and called for Trump to drop out of the race. Other potential candidates for the GOP nomination include former Vice President Mike Pence and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Meanwhile, current President Joe Biden has yet to formally declare his candidacy for re-election.
