In his first campaign rally since being convicted in the New York hush money case, former President Donald Trump attracted thousands of supporters in Las Vegas, where he told potential voters on Sunday that Nevada would play a significant factor in the 2024 election.

Rallygoers appeared to be unmoved by Trump’s conviction on 34 felony charges of falsifying business records last week. Trump supporters braved 100-degree heat and lined up at Sunset Park early in the morning to see the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.

During his speech, Trump slammed President Joe Biden’s economic and border policies and promised to “turn this country around.”

“[Illegal immigrants] are totally destroying our black population; they’re totally destroying our Hispanic population,” Trump said. “And you know what else they’re destroying? … They’re killing unions.”

“They’ve worked long to get their salaries up a little bit; they’re not able to do it,” Trump added. “Virtually 100% of all net new jobs under Biden have also gone to illegal aliens.”

The presumptive GOP nominee also addressed Biden’s recent executive order addressing illegal immigration at the southern border, calling it “pro-invasion, pro-child trafficking, pro-women trafficking, pro-human trafficking, and pro-drug dealers.”

“It’s weak, it’s ineffective, it’s bulls*** what he signed,” Trump added, prompting chants of “bulls***” from the crowd.

Nevada has gone blue in each of the elections that had Trump on the ballot, with Hillary Clinton beating Trump by just over two percentage points in 2016 and Biden taking the state by a similar margin in 2020. According to the most recent polling data, Trump enjoys a large lead over Biden in the state for the 2024 election. The RealClearPolitics average of polls shows Trump beating the president 48.3% to 43% in Nevada.
