Trump Vows to ‘Never Drop Out’ of 2024 Race, Even If Convicted
Former President Donald Trump has proclaimed he will continue his bid to campaign in the 2024 presidential election, despite facing numerous accusations against him.
Speaking publicly for the first time since his indictment, Trump affirmed his intentions to Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, during a more-than-an-hour-long interview from his residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida. “I would never drop out. It’s not my thing. I wouldn’t do it,” stated Trump.
Trump also gave some details of his court appointment a week ago in New York, claiming some court employees grew emotional while handling his case, putting the country through the process of criminal booking procedures for the first time in the nation’s history.
He has been charged and pleaded not guilty to the crime of falsifying business records, in violation of state law, and furtherance of an unspecified underlying crime.
Throughout the interview, Trump spoke out against the Democratic-led prosecution, calling it an “attack and weaponization” of the US justice system that has long targeted his political endeavors.
He went on to describe court charges booking areas as “tough” but praised workers, calling them “phenomenal”. Trump highlighted that his arraignment represents a sad day for him and the country, but, on another hand, it was “beautiful” because of how the employees treated him during the process.
Trump also decried Democrats as “the party of disinformation,” responding to allegations that if Trump was again selected as the Republican presidential nominee, President Joe Biden or another Democrat could emerge victorious in the 2024 election. He emphasized that people should know that Democrats say the “opposite” of what they want.
Trump’s popularity seems not to be decreasing despite the FBI’s raid on his Mar-a-Lago residence in August and the allegations against him.
